摘要: When designing longitudinal studies, researchers often aim at equal intervals. In practice, however, this goal is hardly ever met, with different time intervals between assessment waves and individuals being more the rule than exception. One of reasons for introduction continuous models by means structural equation modelling has been to deal irregularly spaced (e.g., Oud & Delsing, 2010). present paper we extend approach individually varying oscillating non-oscillating processes. addition, show not only that are unnecessary but also it can be advantageous use unequal sampling intervals, in particular when rate low. Two examples provided support our arguments. first example compare a model bivariate coupled process standard discrete illustrate importance accounting exact second effect on estimating damped linear oscillator investigated Monte Carlo simulation. We conclude important account encourage conceive studies within as an opportunity rather problem.
