摘要: Various physico-chemical techniques were used to investigate the characteristics and heavy metal concentration of soils in some selected waste dumpsites Port Harcourt. This is because act as vehicles for permeability leachates into various levels aquifers environment. The results show that are moderately acidic with a mean pH value 5.5 1m subsoil 5.8 30cm soil depth dumpsites, while total organic carbon (TOC) it was low 3.41% 2.90% depths respectively. cation exchange capacity (CEC) showed range 21.36 - 28.79 meq/100g 20.94 26.44meq/100g level across dumpsites. textural class observed be mixture sand, clay loam all sites. Low sand fractions (>40%) almost sites except Elekahia Eleme roads had 64.7% 56.4% locations above permissible limits. In this study, did not meet up moisture requirement land filling could therefore prone porosity, surface flooding underground water pollution. It suggested use impermeable geomembrane necessary minimize seepage from causing pollution both groundwater resources taking account possibility containment system may threatened by any disaster. @ JASEM
