摘要: Intense efforts have been devoted to the identification of genes that are causatively involved in pattern-forming events invertebrates and vertebrates. Several gene families this process identified. Here we focus on Xenopus fork head domain family. One its members, XFKHl/Pintallavis/XFD1, has shown previously be axial formation, expression patterns other family members discussed below suggest they too play a major role initial steps patterning organization. In report, describe four XFKH3, 4, 5, 6) analyze distribution their transcripts during early development. XFKH3 is expressed developing somites but not notochord, XFKH4 forebrain, anterior retina, neural crest cells, XFKH5 subset epidermal cells floor plate. Finally, XFKH6 seen crest-derived cranial ganglia. addition, show at least some zebrafish might serve comparable function. Zebrafish zf-FKHl similar pattern as XFKHl/Pintallavis/XFDl. It transcribed notochord The polster or “pillow” also shows very high levels mRNA. © 1995 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
