Modeling Strategy and Numerical Validation for a Darrieus Vertical Axis Micro-Wind Turbine

摘要: This paper presents a model for the evaluation of optimal spatial grid node distribution in CFD analysis Darrieus vertical axis micro wind turbine, by analyzing trends over 360° rotation some indicators near-blade mesh quality. To this purpose, complete validation campaign has been conducted through systematic comparison numerical simulations with tunnel experimental data. Both two-dimensional and three-dimensional grids, characterized average y+ values 30 1, have tested applying statistical techniques as guidance selecting appropriate configuration corresponding turbulence model. Finally, tip downstream recirculation zone due to finite blade extension influence spokes analyzed, achieving quantification induced drag on overall rotor performance.Copyright © 2010 ASME
