摘要: Abstract This paper uses panel data from the Statistics Canada National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (1994–2000) to study implications parenting a child with disability or chronic condition for subjective assessments parental health. We find mother's health be negatively affected, particularly if is longer-term. Within families, wife's deteriorates relative her husband's when they are disability. These results consistent Akerlof Kranton's [Akerlof, G., Kranton, R., 2000. Economics identity. The Quarterly Journal 105(3), 715–753] arguments that ‘identity’ an important determinant both behaviour well-being. For parents children disabilities, associated traditional ‘good mother’ identity (e.g., care-giving) appears have more adverse consequences than father’ breadwinning).
