Qualifying irrigation system sustainability by means of stakeholder perceptions and concerns: lessons from the Segarra‐Garrigues Canal, Spain

摘要: When planning interventions, water and land resource managers increasingly need to take the opinions of stakeholders into account. In present study, stakeholders’ concerns in a multifunctional system are assessed, with focus on debate about sustainability irrigation projects stressed competing contexts. The selected case study pertains Segarra-Garrigues canal (Spain), promotion which has generated social mobilization, as well pronouncements from European authorities for ensuring its environmental sustainability. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews analysed by means new codification identifying affinities conflicts arising existing demands. Results show that concepts more civil society than public administration private services or rural community. However, priority most stakeholders, while economic perspective sustainable development been conditioned first two. These results can be used relevant step customizing their they provide clear initial idea what stakeholder priorities framework development.
