摘要: Abstract Background Problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use impacts partners heavily, with an increased risk of experiencing domestic violence, financial stressors, health problems relationship challenges. However, often do not seek help or support due to a range barriers (e.g., shame, stigma, practical constraints). Online counselling may facilitate help-seeking by overcoming many these barriers, however research is needed explore what motivates contact online services, their experiences needs, how can be best supported online. Method One hundred transcripts individuals problem AOD were sampled from 24-hour national synchronous chat service. Descriptive content analysis was used investigate themes related help-seeking. Results Three broad themes, seven sub-themes, identified: (i) the reason for accessing (seeking advice, wanting talk), (ii) discussing coping processes (past/present strategies, facilitators seeking change), (iii) planning future assistance (future planning, treatment preferences). Conclusions Partners wanted talk about concerns non-judgemental professional. majority help-seekers advice in problem-solving, process further help. Future studies need examine impact partners.
