摘要: The impact of time since fire after two consecutive wildfires 44 years apart (1939 and 1983) within the same area, distance from boundary (<100 m or 500-2000 m), were investigated in relation to distribution abundance arboreal marsupials 1994. Arboreal censused by stagwatching spotlighting relatively young age classes mountain ash (Eucalyptus regnans) dominated forest Central Highlands Victoria. Five species marsupial detected, but only three detected sufficient numbers determine habitat preferences. Petauroides volans (greater glider) was statistically more abundant 1939 regrowth forests, while Trichosurus caninus (mountain brushtail possum) showed no significant preference for either class forest. All one record Gymnobelideus leadbeateri (Leadbeater's came forest, though effect age-class not significant. Distance explained little variation mammal abundance. While actual number hollow-bearing trees similar both long-term lifespan recently burnt is predicted be lower than unburnt Post-fire salvage logging following 1983 appears have reduced at sites 1983.
