Preparation of nucleotide-based microsphere and its application in intumescent flame retardant polypropylene

摘要: Abstract The toxicity, environmental persistence and bio-accumulation of flame retardant additives have attracted a lot attentions for several years. People try to develop perfect strategy achieve green materials. Bio-based retardants are one the most environmentally friendly alternatives, but lots natural resources thermal unstable. Therefore, it is important necessary modify performance biological raw materials by using physical or chemical methods meet requirements In this paper, element-nucleotide was embedded in backbone melamine fomaldehyde resin form functional microsphere (MFA). MFA employed polypropylene (PP)/intumescent (IFR) system its performance. flammability PP composites evaluated limiting oxygen index (LOI) UL-94 vertical burning tests etc. results showed that containing 17 wt% IFR 1 wt% achieves LOI value 27.0 passes V-0 rating, while no less than 25 wt% single needed obtain same rating. Furthermore, delays time peak heat release rate (PHRR) decreases 65% PHRR. This paper provides novel approach constructing bio-based opens another door applications bio-resources meanwhile.
