摘要: One of the most critical problems that affect analysis orbiting radar sounder data is presence spurious surface clutter returns. These are due to off-nadir echoes related topography which may be detected as (or mask) actual subsurface targets. The detection such returns usually carried out manually through a visual comparison between radargrams and simulations obtained using available digital elevation models (DEMs). This an inherently subjective time-consuming task, reduce scientific return data. In this paper, we address problem by proposing novel technique for automatic in proposed method made up three steps: 1) simulation DEMs; 2) coregistration simulations; 3) extraction from coregistered radargrams. step performed two phases: coarse registration based on first line both input fine B-spline deformation. robust radargram geometric deformations (e.g., ionospheric effects) allows generation different types outputs simulations, binary maps, false-color compositions) can greatly support community manual analyses drive development reliable methods high level processing. effectiveness proven sets acquired areas Mars Shallow Radar instrument.
