摘要: An advanced meteor radar, viz, Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) radar (SVU MR) operating at 35.25 MHz, was installed (SVU), Tirupati (13.63°N, 79.4°E), India, in August 2013 for continuous observations of horizontal winds the mesosphere and lower thermosphere (MLT). This manuscript describes purpose system configuration, measurement techniques, its data products, parameters, as well a comparison measured mean MLT with contemporary radars over Indian region. It is close to Gadanki (13.5°N, 79.2°E) mesosphere-stratosphere-troposphere (MST) fill region between 85 100 km where this does not measure winds. The present provides additional information due high detection rate, which results accurate wind from 70 110 km. As first step, we made SVU MR-derived those by similar different (MST MF radars) techniques region, model (horizontal 2007) sets. showed an exquisite agreement overlapping altitudes (82–98 km) radars. Zonal compared very well, did meridional observed discrepancies limitations are discussed light measuring effects small-scale processes like gravity waves. new expected play important role our understanding vertical lateral coupling regions atmosphere that will be possible when measurements nearby locations combined.
