摘要: BACKGROUND The laminin-5 γ2 chain plays an important role in cell migration during tumor invasion and tissue remodeling. METHODS Laminin-5 expression squamous carcinomas of the tongue 67 patients with Stage II, III, or IVA,B (excluding cases distant metastasis) was examined immunohistochemically to determine its associations clinicopathologic features each tumor. The predominant staining patterns were categorized as follows: A, few no cells positive; B, part nest periphery C, circumferentially D, almost all positive. RESULTS Laminin-5 observed clearly cytoplasm. Of tumors examined, 6 (9%), 31 (46%), 19 (28%), 11 (17%) showed respectively. With progression from pattern A number immunopositive increased significantly (P < 0.0001), histology more infiltrative growth 0.0001) poorer differentiation = 0.0021). Furthermore, both univariate 0.0019) multivariate 0.0003; hazard ratio 3.132) analysis patients' survival revealed that prognosis became D. CONCLUSIONS Increased immunoreactivity, which may reflect a high invasive potential cancer cells, is factor indicative poor for carcinoma tongue. Cancer 1999;85:2315–21. © 1999 American Society.
