摘要: We aim at constraining the geometry of reprocessing matter in nearby prototypical Seyfert 2 Galaxy Markarian 3 by studying time evolution spectral components associated to primary AGN emission and its Compton-scattering. have analyzed archival spectroscopic observations taken over last 12 years with XMM-Newton, Suzaku Swift observatories, as well data during a monitoring campaign activated us 2012. The timescale Compton-reflection component variability (originally discovered ASCA mid-'90s) is ~64 days. This upper limit improves more than factor 15 previous estimates for this source. When light curve continuum 4-5 keV band correlated 15-150 Swift/BAT delay ~1200 days found. cross-correlation results are dependent on model used fit spectra, although detection independent range models employed data. Reanalysis an Chandra image indicates that Fe K-alpha emitting regions extended North up ~300 pc. combination these findings suggests optically-thick reprocessor clumpy. There mounting experimental evidence structure gas dust nuclear environment heavily obscured be complex. discuss possible modifications standard unification scenarios encompassing complexity. 3, exhibiting X-ray absorption widely different spatial scales, ideal laboratory test (abridged).
