摘要: We present the largest spectroscopic study of host environments Type Ibc supernovae (SN Ibc) discovered exclusively by untargeted SN searches. Past studies have been biased towards high-mass, high-metallicity galaxies focusing on SNe in galaxy-targeted Our new observations more than double total number stellar population age and metallicity measurements published for environments, extend to a median redshift about twice as large previous statistical (z = 0.04). For 12 Ib 21 Ic our sample, we find metallicities log(O/H)+12 8.48 8.61, respectively, but determine that discrepancy full distribution is not statistically significant. This difference would correspond only small mass loss via metal-line driven winds (<30%), suggesting this does play dominant role distinguishing progenitors. However, 7 broad-lined Ic-BL) sample significantly lower, 8.34. The young Ic-BL also seems be lower Ic, small. A synthesis environment spectroscopy date reveal significant metallicities, reinforces significance Ic-BL. combined demonstrates searches introduce bias seeking infer progenitors, identify discuss other systematic effects smaller roles. path forward making progress progenitor LSST era.
