摘要: Abstract Since the 1950s there has been increased local variation in British voting patterns with Conservatives doing especially well South of England and rural areas, Labour less badly North urban areas. Three possible explanations this trend are discussed: firstly that it is related to changing geography social class (or other relevant interest groups); secondly reflects revitalization ‘local political culture’ or ‘territorial identity’; finally linked growing salience labour housing markets as bases stratification mobilization. The latter option preferred since explains why similar types locality having increasingly regardless their respective histories exact geographic location. Much greater theoretical understanding processes needed here, paper concludes by suggesting two points: trajectories localities (whether declining expanding) extremely important but often overlooked analysts who simply characterize on snapshot characteristics from one period time, several economic interest, those arising tenure, have no general effects patterns, lead different forms alignment because relationship features structure.
