摘要: Despite advances in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML), patients still show high relapse and resistance against conventional chemotherapy. This is related to a small clone referred as Leukemia Stem Cells (LSCs). New targeted strategies are directed LSCs' extrinsic regulators including their microenvironment such CXCR4 antagonist that used interfere with homing. Targeting surface molecules CD33 for selective elimination LSCs has variable degrees success may require further assessments. Trials CARs cells were effective eradication lymphoblastic leukemia, they have an role also AML. Other intrinsic self-renewal mechanisms epigenetic reprogramming LSCs. review highlights targeting identifies biological differences between them normal hematopoietic stem cells.
