摘要: Adults with Down syndrome (DS) represent a unique population who are in need of clinical guidelines to address their medical care. The United States Preventive Service Task Force (USPSTF) has developed criteria for prioritizing conditions public health importance the potential providing screening recommendations improve quality existing evidence needed inform not been previously reviewed. Using National Library Medicine (NLM) database PubMed, we first identified 18 peer reviewed articles that addressed co-occurring adults DS. Those discussed over half were prioritized further review. Second, performed detailed literature searches on these specific conditions. To search strategy and review process series key questions formulated priori. available was then graded knowledge gaps identified. number participating design studies varied by condition often inadequate answering all our questions. We provide data thyroid disease, cervical spine hearing impairment, overweight-obesity, sleep apnea, congenital heart osteopenia-osteoporosis. Minimal demonstrates massive compromises decision-making management medically complex individuals. development evidence-based guidance will require an expanded knowledge-base order move forward.
