摘要: The identified emissions of abiogenic carbon dioxide, monoxide and methane are generally attributed to volcanic activity or geochemical processes associated with thermometamorphic effects. In this paper we show another possible source emission, induced by mechanical, not thermal, stresses. We investigat- ed the mechanochemical production dioxide when friction is applied marly-type rock studied mechanisms determining strong CO2 CH4 observed. A ring mill was used apply oriented pressure upon a synthetic calcite-clay mixture varying proportions. found that release versus grinding action has non-linear trend reflecting behaviour decreas- ing crystallinity, which indicates close link between crystallinity gas production. For propose mechanism connected friction-induced fractures increase in structural disor- ders creep lattice. emission could be explained Sabatier reaction hydrogen involved form water.
