Associations between Perceived Parent Behaviors and Middle School Student Fruit and Vegetable Consumption

摘要: Abstract Objective To examine whether (1) student perceptions of parent behaviors explain variations in fruit and vegetable consumption, (2) self-efficacy mediates this relationship, (3) perceived home availability moderates relationship. Design A cross-sectional survey. Setting Classrooms 3 middle schools 2 northeast Georgia counties. Participants 366 school students. The response participation rates were 59% 56%, respectively. Variables Measured Perceived authoritative parenting, control, modeling, support, self-efficacy, availability, consumption. Analysis Hierarchical multiple regression; P Results significant predictors relationship between support consumption was mediated by self-efficacy. both modeling moderated availability. Conclusions Implications Parents appear to moderately influence Educators might focus on improving as well modeling. level indicate where efforts should for enhancing behaviors.
