摘要: Global environmental injustice, the unfair distribution of hazardous activities and materials in disadvantaged communities, is increasingly evident African continent through transboundary pollution illegal disposal wastes. Studies are needed to uncover underlying factors that account for these trends detrimental health effects host communities. This chapter examines a recent incident involving wastes Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Specifically, August 2006, consisting mercaptans, hydrogen sulfide, phenols, hydrocarbons were dumped illegally seventeen locations resulting approximately fifteen deaths thousands injuries. The circumstances under which occurred communities most affected by incident. Atmospheric dispersion models used delineate plume footprints releases Abidjan. generalized risk zones then integrated into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) assess impacts exposure demographic profile residents within high zones.
