摘要: Loss of semi-natural grasslands and reduction habitat diversity are considered major potential threats to arthropod in agricultural landscapes. The main aim this study was investigate how area diversity, mediated by shrub encroachment after grassland abandonment, affect species richness orthopterans island-like grasslands, contrasting mobility might alter response both factors. We selected 35 isolated patches landscapes dominated arable land (durum wheat) order obtain two statistically uncorrelated gradients: (i) one ranging from 0.2 55 ha (ii) (either open or shrublands) with a mosaic different habitats. Habitat loss due land-use conversion into fields associated substantial positive species–area relationship (SAR), sedentary having steeper stronger SAR than mobile species. Halting is, therefore, needed avoid further extinctions. Shrub encroachment, triggered presented hump-shaped diversity. An increase enhanced irrespective patch mobility. Maintaining enhancing cutting burning small sectors reintroducing extensive sheep grazing abandoned grassland, suggested as complementary strategies mitigate decline orthopteran the remnant patches. This would be equally important large
