摘要: Organotypic slices cultured for weeks in vitro represent an extremely valuable strategy the investigation of long-term properties neuronal circuits under physiological and pathological conditions. Here, we describe how to prepare rat organotypic hippocampal slice cultures expose them appropriate periods time excitotoxic agents or oxygen glucose deprivation conditions, order mimic pattern pyramidal cell damage which is observed vivo other models. This preparation very useful not only study synaptic plasticity pathways mechanisms neurodegeneration but also evaluate effects neuroprotective agents.
