摘要: The molecular basis of the alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH)-negative deer mouse (Peromyscus maniculatus) has been investigated. Several classes mammalian ADHs have recognized based upon biochemical and structural properties. ADH cDNA clones identified by hybridization to a class I clone were obtained from ADH-positive liver library. This as being sequence represents Adh-1 gene. An additional in both -negative libraries was weak cross-hybridization cDNA. encodes an amino acid representing new ADH, gene for this is named Adh-2. ADH-negative mice do not produce mRNA, that detected probe. However, stocks high levels Adh-2 mRNA liver. Southern analysis using essentially full-length probe shown deleted mice. Biochemical enzyme activity suggests at least three polypeptides are expressed different tissues somewhat substrate specificities, mouse.
