摘要: Abstract Clinical signs of lower urinary tract disease in dogs are characteristic but non-specific for infection. It has been hypothesized that age, sex and neuter status influences the prevalence infection (UTI), predictive value combined clinical presentation not explored dogs. The aim study was to assess predictors (sex/neuter status, dysuria/stranguria, pollakiuria, macroscopic hematuria, malodorous urine history recurrent UTI) bacterial cystitis, develop a decision rule. Data retrieved from medical records (retrospective cases) or standardized recording sheets (prospective cases). Bacterial cystitis defined as significant bacteriuria on quantitative culture with compatible disease. Dogs any breed, age were included. A total 1727 microbiology screened 424 samples included analysis. confirmed 46% cases. Four variables predicted cystitis: sex/neuter pollakiuria hematuria. score designated each variable rule constructed. This attained an AUC 0.75 had sensitivity 83% specificity 55% at its optimal cut-off (score ≥2.0). ≥3.0 positive 70%. Several factors only modest value. Other point-of-care test results should be future research optimize overall precision.
