摘要: The temperature and field dependences of the anisotropic magnetostriction coefficients Dy, Ho, Er iron garnets were measured from 78°K to room temperature. At compensation points there is a reversal in field‐dependent (anisotropic forced magnetostriction) sharp dip apparent saturation magnetostriction. high temperatures, approach values previously for YIG (≅10−6). low large strains arise because magnetoelastic coupling rare‐earth ion: λ100 (0°K) REIG/λ100 YIG≅103; λ111 REIG/λ111 YIG≅50. Estimates 0°K magnetostrictions based upon single‐ion theory are −1400, −930, 420×10−6 λ100, −550, −220, −300×10−6 garnets, respectively. These values, although 50 1000 times larger than YIG, one order magnitude smaller enormous observed heavy metals. This difference can be accounted by elastic moduli density ions. In both metal garnet coefficient ion approximately 103 cm−1.
