摘要: Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disorder characterized by the selective destruction of insulin-producing β cells as result a complex interplay between genetic, stochastic and environmental factors in genetically susceptible individuals. An increasing amount experimental data from animal models humans has supported role played imbalanced gut microbiome T1D pathogenesis. The commensal intestinal microbiota fundamental for several physiologic mechanisms, including establishment immune homeostasis. Alterations its composition have been correlated to changes system, defective tolerance food antigens, inflammation enhanced permeability. Early findings reported differences subjects affected prediabetes or overt disease compared healthy present review focuses on microbiota-host homeostasis, alterations, that influence discusses their putative correlation with development. Further studies are necessary clarify modifications processes cause permeability mechanisms responsible onset.
