摘要: The estuarine environment is characterized by frequent fluctuations in salinity. Consequently, organisms used for environmental monitoring of estuaries must be euryhaline so that their laboratory responses to chemical pollutants are measured under the full range salinity exposures experienced field. Neomysis integer and Praunus flexuosus two potential candidates use European estuaries. present study assesses effects on survival, trace metal accumulation, toxicity these mysid species. was more euryhaline, showing 100% survival at 1 40@1000 compared with P. flexuosus, which showed salinities 10 40@1000. Toxicity free cadmium ion both species unaffected salinity, 96-h LC50s ranged from 4.8 15 micrograms Cd2+/L N. 12.3 16 flexuosus. 7-d 1.0 4.2 5.3 respectively. No effect exposure found body burdens mysids exposed 7 d 0.5 microgram Cd2+/L. results discussed terms possible osmoregulatory mechanisms uptake, toxicity.
