摘要: abstract The influence of induced tectonic stress release on the short-period teleseismic P -wave signature underground nuclear explosions is studied. Primary attention directed to first few cycles record from which body-wave magnitude ( m b ) determined. Computational models for both explosion and superimposed double couple are employed theoretical seismograms computed. Interest mainly in largest component that seems reasonable using surface-wave observations independent estimates controlling parameters as constraints. It concluded most, perhaps all, events, has no appreciable effect amplitude waves. Even frequency content early arriving wave little affected by most likely circumstances. computations assume due relaxation around fracture zone created explosion. However, results extended apply alternate mechanism whereby released along a pre-existing fault plane. Since number other mechanisms can cause superposition explosion, analysis relevant general question size these secondary sources must attain before recording significantly altered.
