摘要: Among 13 Vermont Hospital Service Areas, tonsillectomy rates decreased over a five-year period. In 1969, the in seven areas exceeded estimated United States national rate; by 1973, average rate for all had declined 46% and only one area remained above U.S. rate. Much of change occurred after feedback data to State Medical Society demonstrating 1969 variations. 12 areas, relationship between clinical practices could not be documented; however, physicians with highest reviewed indications adopted second opinion procedure reviewing candidates surgery. The experience suggests that population-based on incidence procedures may valuable tool peer review process.
