Finite and infinite system gamma ray buildup factor calculations with detailed physics

摘要: Abstract Examination of physical interactions photons in materials is a significant subject for buildup factor studies. In most the calculations, by default, coherent (Rayleigh) scattering ignored and Compton modeled free-electron Klein–Nishina formula with “simple physics” treatment. this work, photon factors are calculated many different cases including “detailed taking into account bound-electron scatterings Monte Carlo code, MCNP5, results compared literature values. They computed point isotropic sources up to depths 20 mean free paths at three energies widely used (0.06, 0.6 6 MeV). Calculations made both finite infinite homogeneous ordinary water media. It concluded that Coherent very dominant low deep penetrations assumed approximation (simple/detailed, finite/infinite) critical determining shielding material dimensions. After all, it can be stated all parametric assumptions should clearly given indicated tabulation factors.
