摘要: Polyploidy (whole-genome duplication, WGD) is an integral feature of eukaryotic evolution with two main forms typically recognized, autopolyploidy and allopolyploidy. In plants, a growing body research contradicts historical assumptions that both infrequent inconsequential in comparison to However, the legacy these still persists through lack on central facets autopolyploid evolution. This review highlights recent has significantly increased scientific understanding autopolyploidy. Key advances include: 1) unreduced female gametes contribute disproportionally polyploidization formation triploids, 2) niche divergence autopolyploids can occur immediately or gradually after WGD diverse set mechanisms, but broad overlap also common between diploids autopolyploids, 3) degree genomic transcriptomic changes following lower than allopolyploids, highly variable within species types polyploids. We discuss implications other findings, present promising systems for future research, advocate expanded areas
