摘要: Specimen arteriography, morphometry, and light electron microscopy were used for examination of the pulmonary vasculature 22 patients who died with adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), purpose defining lesions that contribute to hypertension in this setting. The different correlated duration rather than cause ARDS. Thromboemboli occurred 21 patients, macrothrombi found at autopsy number filling defects on antemortem angiography. Acute endothelial injury was documented ultrastructurally even intermediate late-stage patients. Fibrocellular intimal obliteration arteries, veins, lymphatics infective vasculitis prominent those surviving beyond 10 days. In long-term survivors, tortuous arteries irregularly dilated capillaries striking features. Peripheral extension vascular smooth muscle a significant increase percentage medial thickness muscular ARDS noted. pathogenesis clinical significance these is discussed.
