摘要: Objectives This study examines the risk of acute myocardial infarction (MI) conferred by metabolic syndrome (MS) and its individual factors in multiple ethnic populations. Background The MS on MI has not been well characterized, especially groups. Methods Participants INTERHEART (n = 26,903) involving 52 countries were classified using World Health Organization (WHO) International Diabetes Federation (IDF) criteria for MS, their odds ratios (ORs) compared with component factors. Results is associated an increased MI, both WHO (OR: 2.69; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.45 to 2.95) IDF 2.20; CI: 2.03 2.38) definitions, corresponding population attributable risks 14.5% (95% 12.7% 16.3%) 16.8% 14.8% 18.8%), respectively. associations are directionally similar across all regions Using definition, association that diabetes mellitus 2.72; 2.53 2.92) hypertension 2.60; 2.46 2.76), significantly stronger than other clustering ≥3 subthreshold values 1.50; 1.24 1.81) having “normal” values. definition showed results. Conclusions In this large-scale, multi-ethnic, international investigation, generally comparable some, but all, characterization factors, continuous variables, as dichotomous will underestimate decrease magnitude between MI.
