摘要: Abstract Vertebrate embryonic cell populations of unlike kind, when combined in vitro, typically spread around and sort out from one another combination-specific patterns, whereas like merely coalesce. These differing responses to self nonself constitute form morphogenetic self-recognition behavior. Prolonged shaker-flask culturing dissociation reaggregation chick heart tissue were both previously shown reverse the tissue's spreading behavior with liver. Here, we show that these treatments simultaneously initiate, tissue, a “foreign” reaction toward untreated heart. Moreover, direction this heart-heart can be deduced change heart-liver spreading. This suggests certain properties participate determination foreign- behaviors studied here. The differential adhesion hypothesis postulates are intensities cohesion, less cohesive tissues enveloping more ones. If so, our observations imply fragments precultured 1 2 day should than - reaggregates, but days. With centrifugation assay, which relative cohesiveness is assessed by roundness centrifuged aggregates at shape equilibrium, confirm prediction.
