摘要: Researchers in economics and strategy have long been interested understanding the determinants of firm performance. We apply relatively novel approach hierarchical linear modelling (HLM) to a large panel food economy firms shed new light on long-standing debate about relative importance industry, corporate parent business unit effects profits. Our results suggest that are more relevant than industry explaining performance differences economy. In addition, we also explore effect specific strategic factors within each level analysis. particular, find business-segment size, barriers entry, diversification, R&D intensity, capital intensity resource availability significant predictor variables explain differences. Given important role positive influence performance, our findings environment provided by parents significantly affects profitability. other words, does matter thus should continue draw attention from scholars profitability
