摘要: The beneficial effect of sunburn-spectrum ultraviolet (UVB) phototherapy on uremic pruritus was studied. Seven patients were treated twice weekly for 4 weeks with UVB to one half the body and placebo other half. All noted generalized improvement without localization benefit side, suggesting a systemic UVB. A comparison three schedules varying from treatments showed that percentage responding not influenced by frequency exposure, although more intensively improved faster. In patients, delayed until 2 after completion course six over weeks, indicating onset in at least some patients. Overall 32 38 or eight exposures. Pruritus has recurred 15 mean remission 3 months. Sixteen are known remain 10.6 months first second treatment. present evidence indicates mechanism action long-lasting relief afforded phototherapy.
