Energy efficiency comparison of massive MIMO and small cell network

摘要: In this paper, we compare the average energy efficiency (EE) of massive MIMO system and small cell network (SCN) under conditions identical user density, antenna density data rate requirements, where uplink downlink training overhead as well multi-cell power control are taken into account. Our analysis shows that transmit SCN decreases faster than increases. Moreover, achieves a higher EE if its consumption except for transmitting is very low or requirement high. Considering in with large number base stations (BSs) opportunity turning some BSs idle mode higher, exhibits only circuit each active lower at an BS. If idling allowed MIMO, will be more efficient when former has smaller antenna.
