摘要: OBJECTIVES. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between duration poverty and health preschool children in Quebec Longitudinal Study Child Development birth cohort. METHODS. Data from for 1950 who were followed annually up age 3 years analyzed. Poverty defined as having an income below low-income cutoff Statistics Canada. Five indicators examined: asthma attacks, infections, growth delay, a cumulative health-problems index, maternal perception child9s health. association child explored with logistic regression modeling controlling mother characteristics, including mother9s level education, social support, physical violence. RESULTS. In cohort, 13.7% (268) 3-year-old experienced intermittent since (1–2 episodes), another 14.4% (280) chronic (3–4 episodes). Children families had more frequent attacks higher index score, whereas often perceived be less than very good by their mothers. These associations remained statistically significant when characteristics. No observed infections or delay. CONCLUSIONS. Chronic affects large number has negative consequences children9s health, although universal care is available. effects may vary according different child.
