Private retirement savings in Australia: Current policy initiatives and gender equity implications

摘要: This article assesses the implications for gender equity of three recent policy initiatives on superannuation in Australia: (i) government co-contributions low-income earners; (ii) an increase compulsory contributions from 9 to 12 per cent; and (iii) pending introduction 'MySuper' accounts, specifically designed those who do not take active interest their accumulation. Implications gendered patterns coverage accumulations are considered. The conclusion is that while first measure may have some beneficial outcomes terms accumulation, none measures appears deal with issues associated access occupational superannuation.
