摘要: To the Editor: We were struck by an article in Neurology 1 suggesting adverse effects of radiation therapy patients with “low grade glioma.” This report, based on initial experience 160 patients, provides retrospective evidence that for survivors there is some risk cognitive dysfunction who most part received using techniques have been abandoned more than 10 years. The authors note themselves this report “cannot exclude possibility poor performance and anaplastic tumors selected therapy.” We believe striking issue, not discussed current was overall very outcome low-grade glioma. It should be noted included Grade (pilocytic astrocytoma) represented a mixed series astrocytic, oligoastrocytic, or pure oligodendrogial tumors, which contained foci (clearly low-grade). Patients treated variety techniques. At time review, vast majority had died progression their disease, median survival approximately 7 line other reports detailing dismal prognosis erroneously called “low-grade glioma patients.” Most these whole-brain therapy, technique clinical trials malignant over decade ago. type (linear accelerator, cobalt, etc.) specified. influence resection cannot defined. cause death also …
