Alternative methods for determination of composition and porosity in abradable materials

摘要: Materials properties and performance are governed by their composition structure. These commonly characterized using materialography image analysis. However, in abradable materials, obtaining a reliable representative sample (polished section) for this widespread technique is complicated nature heterogeneity. Therefore, alternative methods also considered paper. They namely X-ray diffraction electron probe microanalysis to determine the composition, mercury intrusion porosimetry, Archimedean porosimetry helium pycnometry porosity. methods, including materialography, were applied on materials produced plasma spraying; results compared advantages drawbacks of each method discussed.
