摘要: This paper details work undertaken on the application of an algorithm for visual attention (VA) to region interest (ROI) coding in JPEG 2000 (JP2K). In this way, "interest ordered" progressive bit-stream is produced where regions highlighted by VA are presented first bit-stream. The briefly outlines terminology used JP2K, packet structure bit-stream, and methods available achieve ROI JP2K (tiling, coefficient scaling, code-block selection). then describes how output post-processed so that can be efficiently coded using scaling JP2K. Finally, a two alternative forced choice (2AFC) trial compare quality images encoded proposed conventional experimental results show that, while there no overall preference images; improvement perceived image at low bit rates (below 0.25 bits per pixel). It concluded increase only occurs when more than compensates decrease background (i.e., non-ROI).
