摘要: Abstract Issues surrounding the development, application and interpretation of energy intensity indicators are a continuing source debate in field policy analysis. Although economic still dominate intensity/efficiency studies, use physical is on rise. In past, were not employed since it was often impossible to develop aggregate (sector-level or nation-wide) measures due difficulties associated with adding diverse products. This paper presents results research conducted specifically address this “aggregation” problem. The focused development Composite Indicator Approach, simple, practical, alternative method for calculating indicators. paper, Approach used Canadian industrial manufacturing sectors, then compared other existing methods aggregation. composite developed using approach also evaluated terms their reliability overall usefulness. Both comparisons suggest that can be useful, ultimately suitable, way addressing aggregation problem typically heterogeneous sectors economy.
