摘要: Recently developed high resolution computed microtomography (CMT) using synchrotron X-ray sources is analogous to conventional medical CT scanning and provides the ability obtain three-dimensional images of specimens with a spatial on order micrometers. Application this technique study core samples has previously been shown provide excellent two- three- dimensional descriptions pore structure mineral distributions material. Recently, microtomographic endpoint saturation fluid filled sandstone sample were obtained apparatus energy beam produced by superconducting wiggler at National Synchrotron Light Source Brookhaven Laboratory. Images 6 mm subsection one inch diameter prior subsequent flooding residual oil. Both oil brine phases observable within imaged rock matrix. The matrix image data was used as input transport simulator results compared end point data.
