摘要: Abstract Twenty-one mated bitches were used, some of them repeatedly, to study the effect an ergot alkaloid derivative, cabergoline (CAB), on ovarian endocrine function during early- mid-luteal phase and late-luteal gestation. In a blind trial, twelve bred three times; six received daily dose 5 mcg/kg body weight (BW) for 28 d, starting day after third breeding; remaining placebo. open trials, given 15 CAB, one bitch was around four wk pregnancy (mid-luteal phase). Bight CAB once 6 7 (late-luteal. All dogs treated maintained pregnancies. However, abortion resulted or treatment phase. Prolactin levels determined in (late-luteal phase), they showed drop baseline within 24 h first with CAB. Progesterone blood always dropped response treatment, but reached 48 only mid pregnancy. These results indicate that is not sufficiently luteolytic half pregnancy; however, it fully second can be used as abortifacient this period.
