摘要: Measurements made from the Dynamics Explorer-2 satellite in November 1981 through January 1982 and 1983 have been analyzed to determine divergence vertical component of vorticity high-latitude neutral wind field upper thermosphere for quiet (Kp ≤3) active (3+ ≤ Kp ≤6) geomagnetic conditions both northern (winter) southern (summer) hemispheres. This analysis provides first experimental determination large-scale patterns polar insight into relative strengths different sources momentum energy responsible driving winds. The principal findings this work include following: mean pattern is dominated by rotational flow rather than divergent flow, with a typical vorticity: ratio ∼2:1 ∼4:1 conditions. Comparison indicates that intensifies more significantly increasing activity does component.
