摘要: Abstract Spatial soil moisture patterns have been measured in the 10.5 ha Tarrawarra catchment temperate south-eastern Australia on 13 occasions using time domain reflectometry (TDR). Measurements are made regular grids of between 500 and 2000 points for each occasion. The spatial correlation structure these is analysed. Sample variograms found to a clear sill nugget. Exponential variogram models, including nugget, fit sample closely. geostatistical evolve seasonally. High sills (15–25 (%v/v) 2 ) low lengths (35–50 m) observed during wet winter period. During dry summer period smaller (5–15 longer (50–60 m). This seasonal evolution explained basis importance lateral redistribution different seasons. Both nugget effect due measurement error variability at small scales contribute 10 m scale, which smallest scale most data sets. For one occasion four containing 514 samples were collected × 20 grids. These offset by an easterly and/or northerly direction. Variograms similar indicates that used structural analysis highly reliable. An based transects subsampled from typical substantial number (more than about 300) needed obtain meaningful variograms.
