摘要: Abstract Emphysema was produced experimentally in rats by administration of porcine pancreatic elastase at dose levels 75, 100, 125, and 150 units activity/100 g body wt. All doses studied were equally effective producing emphysema. Dose over 75 offered no advantage terms degree or severity emphysema produced; however, such exacerbated hemorrhage edema, resulting relatively high post-instillation mortality. Lesion morphogenesis all tested paralleled those described this other species investigators. The 75-unit activity a quantifiable which constant among animals. Results suggest that because group differences susceptibility to (or variations batches elastase), dose-range studies should be performed on each new
