Estimation error of spectral parameters of mesosphere-stratosphere-troposphere radars obtained by least squares fitting method and its lower bound

摘要: We have calculated the estimation error of parameters echo power spectra observed by mesosphere-stratosphere-troposphere (MST) radars means computer simulations for least squares fitting and moment methods. The method is shown to be better than in region with low signal-to-noise ratio (snr), especially narrow spectra. However, at infinite snr approximately twice that method. This has been attributed nature statistical fluctuation spectral density, which shows a χ2 distribution. For both methods we derived equations show accuracy estimates versus observation period width. When use data MU radar (46.5 MHz), typical errors radial wind velocities are 0.7 2.0 m s−1 stratosphere mesosphere, respectively. By calculating logarithm spectrum inifite parabolic curve it, Doppler shift become 20 times smaller It this one technique achieve theoretical lower bound estimates.
