摘要: An ecosystem approach to fisheries (EAF) seeks tomanage sustainably, including all dimensions of fisheries: biological, social and economic aspects. The separatemanagement these aspectsmay lead conflicting objectives. Coviability analysis helps us ranka setof choices (alternative managementmeasures) objectively, allows explore which policies will ensure strong sustainability, formally recognizes themulti-objective nature fisheriesmanagement. coviability themainWesternMediterranean Spanish was examined with a bioeconomic simulation model under alternative management strategies that implement fishing mortality reduction policies. Based on joint (biological economic) viability assessment, it has been shown Western Mediterranean require the effort 10% 2010 levels. This conservation measure would need be applied as soon possible in order for European managed at MSY, required by legally binding international agreements, may unrealistic. Large reductions stocks have subject high exploitation rates decades are difficult achieve current paradigm control Mediterranean. Instead, reorienting ofMediterranean fish stockswithmanagementmeasures combine changes patterns seasonal or spatial area closures, should help meet policy goals levels compatible MSY 2020.
